📕November Star Wars Book Releases

Somehow, Teek has returned.

Good Morning Youtinians. After last week’s exciting news about plans for the Saga Museum, we asked where you’d like to see the expansive collection of Star Wars memorabilia call home. Of the cities so far announced, New York leads with 20% of the vote. Most of you (32%) have other ideas. Perhaps, like one of your humble scribes, you’re pulling for Sydney? 🇦🇺

There are a ton of November Star Wars releases that we’re looking forward to! Here are the top 3 we can’t wait to get our hands on:

  • The High Republic: The Lightsaber Collection: The newest of the High Republic era reference books will hit bookstore shelves on November 5th.

    • The book features over fifty of the golden era’s incredibly intricate and ornate Jedi weapons.

    • This book is sure to bring us up-close details of some of the more notable lightsabers of this era, such as Stellan Gios’ elegant saber and Burryaga’s broadsword-like hilt, while also going into the more unique weapons of The High Republic, like Vernestra Rwoh’s lightwhip.

    • We also hope to see Silandra Sho’s lightsaber shield featured in this collection!

  • Star Wars Bestiary, Vol 1: Creatures of the Galaxy by ST Bende: Get your wallet ready for November 5th because, alongside The Lightsaber Collection, we will also get the first volume of the Star Wars Bestiary!

    • The artwork already released from this reference book is absolutely gorgeous.

    • Who doesn’t want to just sit down with a warm drink and get lost in the intricacies of rancors, banthas, porgs, and even perhaps the legendary Mythosaur?

  • The High Republic (2023) Vol 2: The Hunted by Cavan Scott: There are a ton of great comics to look forward to this November, but the one that we are most excited about is the second trade paperback of The High Republic (2023).

    • This is the mainline comic of The High Republic Phase III.

    • The trade paperback will collect issues 5–8 and include the one-shot tie-in to The Acolyte, Kelnacca.

    • Keeve Trennis is easily one of our favorite Jedi from this era here at Youtini, and we can’t wait to get more of her story in this collected format.

We're all fine here now — how are you? These are just a few Star Wars reads we can’t wait to check out next month. Take a look at the Youtini Release Schedule to stay up to date on all things Star Wars publishing!

Teek And Ye Shall Find!

How amazing and exciting is the announcement that precious little furry friends are making a long-awaited return to our screens?

What Has Happened? Empire Magazine recently published a roundtable discussion with directors working on the upcoming Disney+ series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.

  • Filmmaker David Lowery announced the return of the Teek.

  • The small, furry species originally appeared in the 1985 made-for-TV movie The Battle for Endor.

  • The Teek have been considered non-Canon until now!

A Whole Lot of History: The Teek, a cheeky and mischievous species, reside on Endor, which we all remember featured prominently in Return of the Jedi.

  • In The Battle for Endor, a Teek (named Teek, naturally) went on several adventures with our favorite Ewok, Wicket W. Warrick.

  • Skeleton Crew takes place between Return of the Jedi and The Mandalorian.

  • Early peeks suggest a 1980s vibe, so bringing back the Teek with practical effects is genius!

Who Was Behind the Original Teek? Actor Niki (Nicole) Botelho (an interview here) donned the costume that brought Teek to life in The Battle of Endor.

  • Botelho has also portrayed a power droid in Ahsoka and a Jawa in The Mandalorian.

  • Mark Dodson provided Teek's voice as well as that of Salacious B. Crumb and a scavenger at Niima Outpost. He passed away on March 2, 2024.

  • Composer Peter Bernstein created a unique musical theme for Teek in the Battle for Endor score (side one, track four).

Behind the Scenes: Lowery says the Teek will be realized in the upcoming series with practical effects.

  • In other words, puppets - just like the Frank Oz Yoda days!

  • Lowery states: "It's just a hand puppet in the middle of this crazy Volume set."

We’re all fine here now - how are you? We love all the characters and species appearing in the new Star Wars films and series. Share your thoughts and tell us your favorites on Discord now!
