Star Wars Publishing August Releases đź“š

Young Jedi Adventure shorts arrive

Good Morning, Youtinians. Last week, there were many Star Wars publishing announcements. The Reign of the Empire trilogy was voted the most anticipated, with 70% of the vote. Before we get to those projects, let’s look at what’s coming in August.

Star Wars Publishing August Releases!

There are a ton of August Star Wars releases that we’re looking forward to, especially as lovers of the High Republic era! Here are the top 3 we can’t wait to get our hands on:

  • The High Republic: The Edge of Balance Vol. 3 by Shima Shinya and Daniel JosĂ© Older: Though this is called Volume 3, this is actually the 4th installment in The Edge of Balance. It arrives on August 13th, so if you haven’t read these High Republic-era manga stories, you still have time to catch up! Jedi Knight Lily Tora-Asi and Master Arkoff — the badass Wookiee on the cover of this volume — work to defend the Jedi Temple on Banchii from the ever-looming threat of the Nihil.

  • Mace Windu: The Twilight Run by Marc Bernardin and Mateus Manhanini: Set before The Phantom Menace, this trade paperback collection gives us a view into Mace Windu’s past as he attempts to protect the galaxy against a difficult secret. This comic hits shelves on August 20th, and it collects the 4-issue miniseries on Mace and an extra story from the one-shot comic Revelations (2023).

  • The High Republic: Beware the Nameless by Zoraida Cordova: The next middle-grade book of Phase III of The High Republic will hit shelves on August 27th. Cordova’s second book in the publishing initiative promises to be a ton of fun — especially if we judge a book by its cover! We have enjoyed following Jedi Padawan Ram Jomaram since Phase I, and this book will pick up his story where it left off in Escape from Valo.

We're all fine here now — how are you? These are just a few Star Wars reads we can’t wait to check out this month. Visit the Youtini Release Schedule to stay current on Star Wars publishing, and let us know what you’re reading in the Youtini Discord!

Young Jedi Adventures Shorts and Fun With Nubs Brings Out the Younglings In Us

For all our younglings (and younglings-at-heart), a new season of Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures shorts has hit Disney+, Disney Jr., and StarWarsKids.com, and it does not disappoint. Each episode is 6-7 minutes long, perfect for a quick lesson in working together, overcoming fear, and having fun with your friends!

The action follows from Season 1, set 200 years before The Phantom Menace in the High Republic era. It focuses on Kai Brightstar and his friends training on Tenoo with Jedi Master Zia Zaldor Zanna. The big takeaways are the first introduction to Wes Vinik, a human Padawan for Master Zia, and his droid R0-M1 (Romy), a flat-top, purple mech droid —both are super cool!

This is what you should tune in for:

  1. Firehawk Rescue: Pirate Sellacc Orryak and her pirates return to steal much-needed ships. Vela and Nash’s ships are in her sights. Will they escape?

  2. Skyring Soaring: Jedi Vector training returns with Wes teaching Kai key lessons about resilience. Will he crash the course or learn from his mistakes?

  3. A Droid’s Mission: Welcome R0-M1, who befriends RJ-83 as they fetch parts to fix the Crimson Firehawk. Can they find the part together, and will RJ-83 survive?

  4. Younglings in the Wild: Lys shows three new younglings around while Zotti (a Rodian Jedi) gets too close to a sharptailed fellwing. Can Lys save her new friend and find Zotti?

  5. Junkyard Joust: We return to Marlaa’s Junkyard and find Taborr stealing parts. Can Kai stop him? Is Taborr really stealing, or could this pirate be seeing the light?

  6. Nubs-tacle Course: With Master Yoda watching, Kai completes the obstacle course, but can Nubs follow suit? Will he make mistakes, and can Yoda teach him to be calm and breathe?

Also, while you’re there, catch the newly dropped Star Wars: Fun With Nubs episodes. Six new one-minute stories have dropped so far, focusing on the furry little Poobian youngling and the chaos he creates. Super fun and a great laugh for young and old fans, Nubs is a fantastic addition to the Star Wars universe!
